About the position
DENSsolutions is actively seeking a driven Applications Scientist with an extensive background in in situ environmental gas transmission electron microscopy. In this position, you will join our Product Management team, playing a crucial role in advancing our applications development, with a specific focus on our in situ gas and heating system – Climate. As the Applications Scientist for Climate, your responsibilities will encompass designing and conducting experiments, collaborating with scientists worldwide to address key research challenges, interpreting results, offering customer support and engaging in various other essential tasks mentioned below.
Responsibilities
- Experiment Design and Execution: Formulating and conducting experiments aimed at investigating material properties and behaviors across diverse environmental conditions, including variations in temperature, pressure and gas environments.
- Collaborative Research: Engaging in collaborative research projects with academic and industrial partners to advance the field of in situ gas studies and contribute to scientific knowledge and innovation.
- Data Analysis: Analyzing data obtained from in situ experiments and providing insights and interpretations to researchers and customers.
- Technical Expertise: Providing technical expertise in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of in situ TEM equipment.
- Training and Support: Providing training and support to users of our in situ Climate system (i.e. gas phase studies), including assisting with sample preparation, data acquisition and data analysis.
- Documentation and Reporting: Documenting experimental procedures, results and findings for internal records and external publications. This may also involve preparing technical reports and presentations.
- Product Development Support: Providing feedback to the product development team based on the experience and feedback from using the in situ Climate system to help improve the product’s features and capabilities.
- Customer Engagement: Interacting with customers to understand their needs, provide technical assistance and address any concerns or queries they may have.

Skills
Required
-
- PhD degree in Material Science/Chemistry
- Affinity with the handling of (delicate) mechanical components.
- Experience with heterogeneous catalysis
- Experience with in situ environmental gas transmission electron microscopy
- Experience with spectroscopical techniques such as EDX and EELS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Availability to travel for customer visits when needed
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances
