Integrated In Situ solutions for TEM
By DENSsolutions, TVIPS and Quantum Design.
Date: 12 February 2020
Venue: TVIPS, Eremitenweg 1, 82131 Gauting, Germany
(venue might change to a location nearby depending on number of registrations)
TVIPS, QuantumDesign and DENSsolutions invite you to Germany´s 4th In-situ TEM sample-management solutions workshop that will be held on Wednesday 12th Febr, 2020 at TVIPS in Gauting.
DENSsolutions offers a complete suite of in-situ sample management solutions for unrivaled high resolution imaging in Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEMs) under varying environmental conditions including Heating, Biasing, Gases & Liquids.
TVIPS manufactures high-performance camera systems for Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) with resolutions from 1 to 64 megapixel. The latest generation of TEM cameras is based on custom designed CMOS technology with active pixel sensors, featuring single electron sensitivity, high dynamic range & exceptional acquisition speed.
This workshop is aimed at both academic and industrial researchers that want to observe their materials / gases / liquids in varying real-time dynamic in-situ TEM environments at high resolution.
The format of the day will include an introduction to the theory behind DENSsolutions MEMS based technology, along with an overview of applications in the fields of Materials Science, Chemistry and Microelectronics.
We’re happy to announce that Dr. Christian Liebscher, head of the Advanced Transmission Electron Microscopy group in Prof. Gerhard Dehm’s department; Structure and Nano-/Micromechanics of Materials at the Max-Planck-Institute für Eisenforschung (Düsseldorf), will give an invited talk about the latest in-situ TEM research with DENSsolutions systems.
The day will end with live practical demonstrations of the Wildfire / Lightning in-situ systems in action on the TEMs located at the prestige Electron Microscopy Suite. The Lightning system from DENSsolutions offers in-situ biasing and heating performance inside the TEM.
There will be a complimentary lunch provided on the day as well as all day refreshments. Delegate places are strictly limited, so early registration is advised. Two attendants per institute.

Travelling to TVIPS
By Aircraft
There are frequent train connections (“S-Bahn”) from Munich International Airport to the centre of Munich and further to Gauting. The trip to Gauting takes 60 – 70 min.
Follow the green “S” signs to the station below Terminal 1. Ticket machines are located next to the escalators and on the platform. All of them accept cash (EURO, notes and coins) and give change, some of them take credit cards. There are also ticket and information desks in both terminals.
Tickets:
Single ticket (“Einzelfahrt 4 Zonen”, 11,60 EUR)
Day ticket (“Single-Tageskarte Gesamtnetz”, 13,00 EUR)
Partner day ticket (for up to 5 persons, “Partner-Tageskarte Gesamtnetz”, 24,30 EUR)
You can take both lines (S1 and S8, alternating every 10 min) S1: Leave S1 at “Laim” and change platforms for an S6 in direction to Tutzing (or Starnberg). S8: Leave S8 anywhere between “Ostbahnhof” and “Pasing” and change to S6 to Tutzing (or Starnberg), always at the same platform.
Leave S6 at “Gauting”.
By Train
For national and international train connections to Munich and/or Gauting use the timetable service of Deutsche Bahn (in German, English, French or Italian).
