About the position

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Applications Scientist with an extensive background in in situ liquid phase electron microscopy (LPTEM) to join our dynamic team in Delft, the Netherlands. In this position, you will be part of our Product Management department, where you will play a crucial role in advancing our applications development, with a specific focus on our in situ LPTEM system, Stream.

Responsibilities

  • Experiment Design and Execution: Designing and executing electrochemical experiments to study material properties and behaviors under liquid phase conditions.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with researchers and scientists to understand their research goals and help them design experiments to achieve their objectives.
  • Data Analysis: Analyzing data obtained from in situ experiments and providing insights and interpretations to researchers and customers.
  • Technical Expertise: Providing technical expertise in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of in situ TEM equipment.
  • Training and Support: Providing training and support to users of our Stream System (liquid & heating & biasing) and Echem SEM stage (bulk electrochemistry), including assisting with sample preparation, data acquisition and data analysis.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Documenting experimental procedures, results and findings for internal records and external publications. This may also involve preparing technical reports and presentations.
  • Product Development Support: Providing feedback to the product development team based on the experience and feedback from using the Stream System and the Echem SEM stage to enhance the product’s features and capabilities.
  • Customer Engagement: Interacting with customers to understand their needs, provide technical assistance and address any concerns or queries they may have.

Skills

Required

    • PhD degree in chemistry/Material Science/Physics or related fields
    • Experience with in situ liquid phase transmission electron microscopy (LPTEM)
    • Experience with spectroscopical techniques such as EDX and EELS
    • Strong background in electrochemistry
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Availability to travel for customer visits when needed
    • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances

Desired

      • Experience with in situ gas experiments (e.g. heterogeneous catalysis)
      • Experience with focused ion beam and lamella preparation
